News from your watershed

December 2025

A note from Lucy Crocker Abisalih, GRLT Board President:

One of the things I love about the GRLT community is our can-do attitude. We believe. We learn. We care. Challenges arise and we find a way. Your support fuels our efforts to save the land that sustains us, and show others the value of land conservation. Together, we make local conservation happen.

Please help us close the year strong by donating to GRLT today. Help us preserve this spectacular watershed.

Introducing: Riverbend Preserve

We recently finalized our newest preserve! Riverbend Preserve is located along the banks of the St. George River in Union and offers the opportunity to rest along your river paddle at a scenic and beautiful field. It is adjacent to extensive wetlands that connect the river to Round Pond and offers prime habitat for inland wading birds. This 4-acre preserve was generously donated in 2025 by a Maine resident whose family historically owned this property as part of a larger local farm. There are no trails currently on the property. Stay tuned for more information about how to access the preserve this spring!

We would love to provide you in-kind donation credits for your time. We are looking for help in various spots throughout the watershed, from Montville to Cushing. If this is something you're able to offer, please contact Luke Thombs at luke@grlt.org.
