Join Georges River Land Trust & Allyssa Gregory from the Maine State Forest Service for a walk focused on tree identification. We will examine form, branching, arrangement, buds, bark, and present foliage to get know the trees around us a little better!

About the event
Join Georges River Land Trust and Maine Forest Service for an exploration of Appleton Preserve. Maine Forest Service District Forester Allyssa Gregory will lead tree identification on this guided hike. Participants will learn to identify tree species by looking at form, branching arrangement, buds, bark, and present foliage. Woodland appreciators should leave with a knowledge of Maine’s native trees, practical tree identification skills, and insights into forest
stewardship.
Wear comfortable closed-toed shoes and bring your drinking water and insect repellent of choice.
This program is free and open to all ages!
Directions to Appleton Preserve: From the intersection of Routes 131 and 105 in Appleton, go east on
Route 105 for ½ mile. Parking is available at the ME Inland Fisheries & Wildlife gravel lot on
