About the event

Before this workshop, join us for a guided birdwatching walk from 11:30 AM–1 PM. We’ll explore the different avian habitats of the Langlais Preserve, see what spring migratory birds are in our midst, and learn to recognize songs and calls with a local birder. Consider bringing a picnic to enjoy before the 2 PM workshop!

For Becoming a Bird, Sarah Haviland will lead us in a hands-on exploration of our fascination with birds, from sharing stories to creating small sculptures. After a local bird walk and discussion of our avian connections, participants will use recycled and natural materials to create expressive visual qualities of their chosen bird. Materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own collected papers or lightweight found objects.
