LGBTQIA+ community members, along with their allies, are invited to explore the preserve’s woodland, riverside trails and connect with new and familiar friends. Join us and the Washington Grunge for a group hike and gathering at the Rockland Bog Preserve in Thomaston.

About the event
The Grunge, in partnership with Georges River Land Trust and Midcoast Conservancy, will host Welcoming Walkabouts, outdoor meetups for LGBTQIA+ community members at various trails throughout the Midcoast this summer and fall. Treks include a short hike with time to foster connections with each other and with nature.
This Welcoming Walkabout will take place at the Rockland Bog Preserve on Sunday, October 25 from 10am-12pm. This is our new Rockland Bog Preserve trailhead, located off Beechwood St. in Thomaston. The Rockland Bog is the largest peatland bog complex in the Midcoast, offering habitat for numerous species of plants and wildlife including otters, songbirds, bears, and even moose!
These walks are free and open to all ages. Children and leashed dogs are welcome. Please register. If you take photos at the event, please make sure you have permission from others.
