About
This 72-acre preserve is located in north Waldoboro with pull-in access off Chapel Road. Wild blueberry fields cover a significant portion of the southern half of this preserve, with a large open hayfield to the north. In between, Alford Brook runs through the middle of the property and creates beautiful forested wetlands. Active beavers, wild brook trout, and grassland birds have been spotted on the property.
We intend to restore the wetlands surrounding the brook, manage the open fields for grassland birds, and create a public walking path through the woods. We have partnered with Beth’s Farm Market, a local blueberry grower, to maintain and harvest the blueberry fields, and will look to work with a local farmer to hay the upper fields.

Preserve History
This preserve was generously donated by a Waldoboro local in 2025 who wished to see this special area protected. In addition to the natural values on the property, the preservation of this parcel provides connection to larger blocks of undeveloped land for wildlife to the north.
