Working With Our Neighbors
With two great land trusts to either side of us, Coastal Mountains Land Trust (CMLT) and Medomak Valley Land Trust (MVLT), we are always looking for new ways to collaborate.
So far in 2015, our joint efforts have included a wide variety of events that display the breadth of our collaboration. In early June, we co-hosted a wildflower walk on Ragged Mountain with Coastal Mountains. More than 20 people participated as we walked along our Thorndike Brook Trail, a section of the Georges Highland Path, in search of summer blooms. Ragged Mountain is a focal point of CMLT conservation efforts and this event was a great way to show off their work to-date.
In mid-June, we held a get-together at the future Langlais Sculpture Preserve in Cushing with board and staff members from the Land Trust and MVLT. The goal of this meeting was to share what we are doing with preserve, and to discuss ways our land trusts can work together in the future.
And, since April, the three land trusts have been working together to host a monthly Green Drinks social event at various locations in Rockland, Waldoboro and Rockport in an effort to reach younger members of the community. Join us for the next Green Drinks event at Horch Roofing on July 15 at 5:30 p.m.!
We all look forward to partnering in more fun and exciting ways this year!
