Where We Stand on Mining
As a conservation organization, the Georges River Land Trust is extremely concerned about the environmental impact of mining in the Georges River watershed. When land is put in permanent conservation, our conservation easements prohibit mining, as natural aquifers can be disturbed, habitats disrupted, valuable soils removed and carbon released into the environment.
We are gathering information about the process proposed by Exiro Mineral Corporation in their recent meetings in Warren and Union, and we will advocate strongly for decisions that support the healthiest natural environment for the watershed and our midcoast communities.
