Luke Thombs, Trails and Stewardship Coordinator
Luke Thombs grew up in Monmouth, a small town in central Maine. He connected with nature at a young age, exploring this beautiful state, building forts in his backyard, and camping everywhere he could. As his affinity for nature grew, he realized the importance of preserving the land so it could be enjoyed for generations to come.

Luke was able to expand his knowledge of conservation practices by majoring in Business Management with a focus in the Environment and Society at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. There, he also was a leader in the Outdoor Education Club, bringing students into nature and connecting with experts in their fields to lead events.
After graduating from college in 2020, during the beginning of the pandemic, Luke began taking on jobs that kept him outside. He moved to Rockland, and spent time as a farmhand and a carpenter, enjoying work in the sun and gaining many skills along the way. He comes to us as an Environmental Steward through the Maine Conservation Corps.
Luke is excited to work with the staff and the community of volunteers in order to maintain the beautiful preserves and trails in the Georges River watershed.
