Hunting On Preserves/Trails

The 2022 hunting season starts October 22 and runs through December 10, except Sundays. Some of our preserves are open for hunting. The details about whether a preserve is open for hunting can be found on our Preserves page and the individual preserve pages you can link to from there.

Hunters must have prior permission to hunt on our preserves. Download this permission request form to make it easy.

Most sections of the Georges Highland Path are on private property. To hunt from these trails, you must obtain permission from all the private landowners where you wish to hunt.

CLOSURES

The Canal Path  and Ridge to River trails in Searsmont are CLOSED to all public access during hunting season – Oct. 22 – Dec. 10 – at the request of the landowner. The Jones Brook Trail in St. George is CLOSED Oct. 22 – Dec. 10 except Sundays when hunting is prohibited.

Please remember to wear blaze orange if you are visiting a preserve or hiking a trail, and keep your pet on a leash.
