How Can I Make The World Better?
When a young person asks to volunteer at the Land Trust, we jump at the opportunity because we know we’ll be inspired. Such was the case when we met Rachel Sizeler-Fletcher this spring, a senior at the Watershed School in Camden. Seniors complete a Graduation Project, “…an opportunity for students to demonstrate mastery of the skills and understanding gained during their high school years, and as such is a mark of passage to adult life.”
Rachel chose to spend time in and around the Maine woods, helping land trusts to maintain their trail networks.
“Doing something that helps to heal someone else or part of the world outside of oneself is one of the most important things in life.”
Thank you, Rachel, for all your hard work, muddy boots, bug bites, sore muscles, and youthful inspiration. If you need a little dose of inspiration today, spend a little time reading her blog, “Woman of the Woods.”
