Want to walk among majestic pines along the Georges River but dread tripping on a rooty path? Parents of a toddler who’s not quite a hiker yet?
Come walk our newest firm, stable trail at the Gibson Preserve in Searsmont. It’s almost a half-mile loop with beautiful views and plenty of benches to rest along the way. Partially funded by AARP, it’s accessible for walkers, wheelchairs and strollers.
Join us on Saturday, October 15, 1-4 pm, for our official opening of the trail. We will begin with our annual meeting where we’ll share our achievements and priorities for the year ahead. Then, we’ll walk the trail together and share light refreshments. The wellness trail can be accessed from a parking lot off Route 173 (Woodmans Mill Road) in Searsmont. From the center of Searsmont (Fraternity Village Store), head west on Route 173. Travel 3 miles to the parking lot on the left (see map).
The Gibson Wellness Walk is a gold standard of safety and enjoyment we’re trying to achieve on all our trails. If you’d like to help fund much-needed repairs on neglected parts of our 70+ mile trail network, please consider donating to GRLT.
