Opera-tunity for Food and Fun
October 10, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$75 – $85
Join Wolfgang and Pamela Kowald at their home on Rackliff Island for an operatic dinner party based on the varied works of Giacomo Puccini. Dine on a five course meal, in addition to an exotic array of passed hors d’oeuvres, created by Laura Cabot Catering. The menu will reflect Puccini’s works, set in times and places such as ancient Peking, 19th century Paris, early 20th century Japan, and America’s frontier.
The featured guest will be Dr. Jeremy Yudkin, Professor of Music and Co-Director of the Beethoven Research Center at Boston University. Dine while watching and listening to old opera performances, and test your knowledge with the opera notes on each table. Dr. Yudkin will entertain you between courses, telling stories from Puccini’s colorful life and making his music come alive!
For a little extra fun, come in your best opera garments or dress in character from one of Puccini’s operas. Bring an object (key prop, music, or quote) similar to that used in one of Puccini’s operas for the other guests to guess which opera it represents. It’s a great “opera-tunity” to share your love of opera!
Hosts: Wolfgang and Pamela Kowald
Limit: 24 guests
