April 9 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
We’re partnering with Herring Gut Learning Center to offer an intertidal science tour on April 9, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in Owls Head. This event is designed for families. Attendees will learn how to:
- Conduct surveys along the shore to identify and catalog marine organisms, and
- Investigate water composition of tidepools and compare it to the ocean that left them behind
Data collected will help inform tidal zone management and contribute to future Herring Gut programs. Prior registration is required.
- Suggested donation is $20 per family or $5 per person
- Register at Herring Gut’s website
- Recommended age: Open to scientists 8 years old or older, especially families.
- Precautions: Sturdy shoes; Comfort with maneuvering between/over rocks and slippery seaweed; Ability to walk .8 miles out and back
