Grass Braiding with Artists in Residence

July 22, 2013 @ 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

Our Artists in Residence, Elizabeth and Michael, are looking for a few helpers to start their grass braiding project at the Riverview Hayfields Preserve in South Thomaston. On Tuesday, July 23 from 7 am to 5 pm, they will be creating an amazing work of art on site by braiding the lovely tall grasses into beautiful patterns across the fields.

This project is a great opportunity to see the art process as it unfolds, and to spend time on this preserve which has only limited public access. The artists recommend this project for people who can spend a couple hours or more during the day bending and kneeling on the ground to do the braiding. Bring a hat, water, and your lunch or snack.

Please call the Land Trust at 594-5166 to sign up. Helpers can park at the Finnish Heritage House on Route 131 and walk across to the Preserve.
