Geology of the Georges River Watershed
May 9, 2015 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm$45 – $55
Join your host, Mark Holden, an environmental geologist, on a tour of the ancient geological history of the Georges River watershed. This 4-hour tour will explore the different structures and rock formations, which help tell the story of how Maine was formed. Participants will meet at a specified location to be given at time of ticket purchase.
Stops will include major fault zones, remains of ancient volcanics, the intrusive Lincoln Sill, oceanic pillow basalts, a former ancient coastline, and a view to ancient Avalonia where two continents meet. Questions will be entertained throughout the trip, and a boxed lunch/drink will be provided!
Host: Mark Holden
