Full Moon Hike in Searsmont
July 31, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pmFree
UPDATE (Friday, 7/31/2015, at 10:12 AM): We’re good to go tonight; the skies couldn’t be clearer. Plus, it’s the Blue Moon! Don’t forget your headlamps and/or flashlights.
Join the Georges River Land Trust for a hike by the light of the full moon at 8:00PM on Friday, July 31, 2015. This short hike will take place on the Ridge to River Trail, the newest section of the Georges Highland Path located in Searsmont, ME. The hike will take participants from the Georges River at Ghent Road, up to the top of Appleton Ridge where we should have a fantastic view of the Blue Moon. It will take approximately 30 minutes to get up to the top of the ridge, and, although the trail is not steep, it is a steady uphill climb.
Participants should bring a headlamp or flashlight and wear footwear and clothing appropriate for the conditions. Meet at the Canal Path/Ridge to River trailhead parking area on Ghent Road, just off Route 131 in Searsmont (see map). This event will only take place under a clear sky; please call the Land Trust at 207-594-5166 on the day of the event if the weather is questionable.
