Family Fun Walk at Gibson Preserve
October 26, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Dr. Kathleen Dunckel, professor in landscape ecology and forested ecosystems at Unity College, will lead us on a guided walk through the Gibson Preserve in Searsmont. She will open our eyes to the evolving forest ecosystem, its hidden history, and possible futures.
Forested ecosystems occupy a special place in our psyche and in our evolutionary past. They often elicit a sense of awe and peace, linking us with our tree-dwelling ancestors. Forested ecosystems are home to a myriad of species and supply ecosystem services that are an integral component of human society.
This walk is open for all ages and is offered in partnership with the Searsmont Town Library. We’ll walk rain or shine, so bring appropriate clothes and footwear. Meet in the Gibson Preserve parking lot off of Rte. 173 (3 miles west of Searsmont) at 10 am OR meet at Searsmont Town Library parking lot to carpool over at 9:45 am.
