Bernard Langlais: Restoring and Preserving the Legacy

Langlais

We are excited to share this short film about renowned Maine artist, Bernard “Blackie” Langlais. “Blackie” created over 3,000 indoor and outdoor works of art during his lifetime, many of them constructed in response to his surrounding landscape at his Cushing homestead. Unique, edgy and very creative, he created pieces on the land that are accessible and engaging to young and old.

This 10-minute documentary tells the story of the collaboration of three organizations – Colby College Museum of Art, Kohler Foundation Inc., and Georges River Land Trust – and the effort to restore and preserve his artistic legacy.

We would like to extend a special thank you to John and Yoke DiGiorgio for the enormous amount of time that they put into producing this film.
