Laura grew up in North Berwick, Maine where she spent countless hours exploring the 120+ acres of woods surrounding her home. She credits her deep appreciation of nature to some of her earliest and most favorite memories of growing up there; regular walks in the woods and along the Great Works River with her Dad through every season – birdwatching, tracking wildlife, searching for mayflowers in the spring and eating checkerberries all the while. Much of those woods and trails are now encompassed by the Negutaquet Conservation Area, just steps from her parents’ front door. She enjoys visiting often and makes time whenever possible to join her Dad for time along the river, following old stone walls on the winding trails.
Laura has four boys and was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years during which time many adventures in nature were embarked upon in the woods and near or on the ocean. Her boys are the pride of her life and her most favorite pastimes are joining them to haul lobster traps in the harbor or cheering them on from the sidelines during sports games. Along with beachcombing and getting lost and carried away in her flower gardens, Laura loves photography and art and finds time to be creative whenever time allows. Nature inspires it all.
Prior to joining the staff at Georges River Land Trust, Laura spent just shy of four years as administrative assistant at a local accounting firm.
She proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Trekkers. She is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the GRLT community and is looking forward to meeting many more friendly faces and getting out to enjoy the Land Trust’s many trails and preserves.
Laura and her husband Jake live in Tenants Harbor with their boys and sweet pug, Olive.
