Become a Coyote Family – for kids ages 6-12
February 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
In partnership with the Searsmont Town Library, and as part of their year-long Maine Outdoors program funded through the Maine Community Foundation, we invite kids ages 6-12 to join conservation biologist Geri Vistein in an outdoor learning experience to become coyotes! Join us at the library at 37 Main St., Searsmont, on Tuesday, February 18 at 10 am.
How do we teach our children to understand these secretive, terrestrial carnivores? Well, the children become Coyote! Geri leads this outdoor experience as participating children become coyote families with an alpha mom and dad and pups. They establish their territories. They look for what coyote would look for in their territory ~ food, safe places, a den site, nature “toys.” They all create their own unique family howl.
You will be in awe of what the children come up with, and of children’s response to this experience. One little girl said to Geri after participating, “I’m going to go home and do this …it’s so much fun” And with the fun, they have learned some powerful lessons.
~To participate you must register via email or phone at firstname.lastname@example.org or 342-5549. (space is limited, but it is a free program).
~Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please let us know your names.
~Dress for winter play! Snow gear, hats and mitts, long johns, etc.
