Annual Meeting and Volunteer Celebration
October 1 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
Mark your calendar for our Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation party on Tuesday, October 1, at the Searsmont Community Center. This is a great opportunity to take a drive up Route 131 on the Georges River Scenic Byway through rolling hills and pastoral landscapes. You’ll enjoy the amazing fall foliage, sparkling blue waters of the the St. George River and its lakes, and the blooming blankets of red as the blueberry barrens begin to change.
We will celebrate and honor the many volunteers who contribute to our success, and report on our accomplishments for the last year. All members, volunteers, and everyone interested in what we do are invited to attend.
Arrive early (starting at 4 pm) to wander through the Searsmont Historical Society Museum and barn. The museum describes settlement of the area and its history of water power and the white pine lumber industry (at one time there were 15 sawmills in town!).
This will be a potluck event, so please bring a dish to share. Beverages will be provided by the Land Trust.
From the intersection of Route 1 and Route 131 in Thomaston, go north on Route 131 for 23 miles. The Community Center is in the lower level of the Town Office/Library building on the left at 37 Main Street South. Watch for the yellow GRLT Event signs to lead you to the event.
